Local 826-C is one of the GCC/IBT’s recent organization success stories. The Litho group at Quebecor World voted yes on September 1, 2005 and the rest of the factory voted yes in January of 2007 that made us 460 employees. We ratified our first contract on November 4, 2007 and joined DC3 on December 20, 2007.

SMOKING BAN AND BREAK AREAS

The Woodford County Health Department passed the smoking ban with a unanimous vote on June 5, 2008.

The ban went into effect on August 4, 2008 with a 30 day grace period. The company had said earlier that the factory and property would become a smoke free campus. But on July 22, 2008 the company designated four smoke areas outside the factory that complies with both the smoking ban and our contract. The smoking areas were opened on August 4, 2008.

In November 2007 the company stopped allowing members from the bargaining unit the use of outside break areas during breaks. On August 1, 2008 the company returned the use of the outside break areas during breaks.

Due to the combined efforts of the membership and District Council 3 the members of Local 826C were able to get the break areas back.

Picture programs, such as Kodak Easyshare, may also be used. Be sure to check "select picture file as original".

Text may be supplied in email or PC text files, such as notepad, WordPad or MSWord. Newsletters should be submitted as PDF (Portable Document Format) if possible.
